Satan uses fear to distract us

 Revelations 12: 1-6 (CEV)

Something important appeared in the sky. It was a woman whose clothes were the sun. The moon was under her feet, and a crown made of twelve stars was on her head. She was about to give birth, and she was crying because of the great pain.

Something else appeared in the sky. It was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and a crown on each of its seven heads. With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.

The woman gave birth to a son, who would rule all nations with an iron rod. The boy was snatched away. He was taken to God and placed on his throne. The woman ran into the desert to a place that God had prepared for her. There she would be taken care of for one thousand two hundred sixty days

We all know the story very well but when I read that bible passage again, it made me think about us as individuals, so sometimes we are the woman, the pregnancy is like an idea, a goal, a project which we have. Then sometimes the enemy comes like the red dragon did, creating a lot of fuss, instilling fear and making us think that all hope is lost. And sometimes, at that moment, it’s tempting to give in to the fear. You know when you want to do something you have never done before that will probably showcase you to the world but the devil will put fear in your heart saying “you will fail” and then what happens – we don’t take make that move that will do us good. Or sometimes when we think we have goofed badly, then the devil will come with the fear of what others will think and make us do something foolish or worse to cover the previous mistake. Fear is a common way that the enemy attacks people’s lives.

Fear usually starts with a thought, the way the mind works is that you start thinking ahead and if you don’t a sight of what the future is, our mind fills it with up with what ifs, which usually is the worst-case scenarios and the more we dwell on these thoughts, the worse the fear gets.

This morning, I would like to remind us that God wants us to walk by faith and not by fear. The bible says in 2 Cor 10:5 that “We break down every thought and proud thing that puts itself up against the wisdom of God. We take hold of every thought and make it obey Christ.” We need to fill our minds with the right things, dwell on the promises of God, make declarations over every issue, every problem. When the devil is saying you cannot make it, make a declaration today that “I will not worry, I will not doubt. I will keep my trust in God knowing that He will not fail me.

Today, I pray that the peace of God that passes all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Jesus Name
