The God that sustains me

In the song “Kosobabire” by Psalmos, Evang. Tope Alabi said “O s’ate mi rogodi, o mu mi duro d’olosinsin”. It basically means that God sustained me during my period of dryness, of hardship until my period of refreshing came.

There are times when we feel that we have prayed, we’ve fasted but it looks like the situation remains the same and then we wonder “God why are you silent, why are you not answering me? Why are you not lifting me out of this valley?” It may look like God is silent but be rest assured that even in that period God is sustaining us

Lamentations 3:22-24 CEV version

The Lord’s kindness never fails! If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed.[a] 23 The Lord can always be trusted to show mercy each morning. 24 Deep in my heart, I say, “The Lord is all I need; I can depend on him!”

The funny thing is that it is only after this period is over that we acknowledge how God has been keeping us and sustaining us. This is why we must put our trust in God through trying times because He has promised He will never fail. He didn’t fail the Israelites on their journey to the Promised Land. Remember the journey took 40 years and at that point, no amount of prayers could have changed the 40 years but God sustained the Israelites in that period. He provided manna which was enough for daily consumption, by the next day the manna was spoiled. And it is written in the bible that for the 40 years they were in the wilderness, their clothes and their shoes did not wear out. Their feet were not swollen.

So this morning, if you are losing hope and your strength is waning, I implore you to lean on God and trust him to give strength for today and hope for tomorrow. To sustain you until your period of refreshing. I know it seems like this time will go on forever but it shall pass and you’ll testify to God’s goodness
